I selected the movie poster The Monster Squad because this is one of my favorite movies from my childhood.  I love the colors, the images of the monsters,the background, and the font that was chosen for the movie title.

For my movie poster The Cat Lady, I want to play a cat lady who has demonic powers and her cats are her evil minions. The cats are doing a lot of bad things.

Homework #4 -Interview Making the Master: Poster Artist Dustin Stanton

I am very impressed with poster artist Dustin Stanton's work. The first poster he made was for the movie Magnolia. I haven't seen this movie before,but he did such a great job on the poster that I really want to see this movie. And the same with the Birdman movie poster I really like that one as well. It's neat how he got his start in a mail room type setting working as both a driver and a production artist for a large entertainment company in his town.

Artist Dave Perillo better known as Montygog, he first got interested in illustration from watching cartoons that he had grew up on. I thought that was neat because I grew up on some of the same cartoons: Scooby Doo, The Flinstones, Looney Toons, and GI Joe.  The main sources of his inspiration are Walt Disney, Charles Shulz, and Jim Henson. Walt Disney and Jim Henson cartoons are also favorites of mine as well. He taught himself how to draw and also studied art in college. He has been working as a professional illustrator for over 13 years now.  Dave Perillo has quite an impressive work history.  He has worked for Disney and Target and even Acme Archives such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and my personal favorite The Simpsons. He emphasizes how important it is to make your own work unique and to stand out amongst the rest. The world would be a really boring place to live in if everyone copied each other. My favorite Illustration in this article of Perillo's is the one of the Super Mario Brothers.

Homework #2

The video on Design of useful things was an interesting video to watch.  I liked some of the different designs that they came up with.  I thought that it was neat how the designer Twan Verdonce came up with the idea with a group of psychologists for a series of toys that were for sensorial stimulation for children that have psychological impairments. It really makes you think, there are so many different ways to create and make new designs.



I enjoyed watching the video on Rethinking the way we sit down with Design legend Niels. He designed an office chair that is more comfortable for your body. He made it easier to adjust into a more comfortable position while sitting for long periods of time. I love the fact he put gel cushions inside the seat and arms of the chair. I know this chair would benefit a lot of people, especially the ones that suffer from back pain. I would definitely buy one of these chairs for myself.

Homework # 1 How to Ruin a great design

In London there have been several problems with the traffic signs. The signs can be very confusing for motorists causing unsafe driving practices ,which lead to motor vehicle accidents.  Driver's will make unsafe turns to try and avoid these signs taking them out of their way.  Well known companies such as UPS and McDonald's have even made mistakes in changing their designs.

For example, UPS changed their well known logo into something less flattering. And McDonalds went and redesigned their European chains. McDonalds decided to change the style of their chairs and it was not a hit.  In conclusion, London is making some changes to improve their traffic signs,but a lot more work still needs to be done to make it more safe.

In my opinion for traffic signs, more research and effort should be put into these designs. There should be higher standards set into place ensuring that driver's will be able to assume safer driving practices.  And if a logo is effective the way it already is, then just leave it alone.

My cat Angel was very special to me. My uncle had gave her to me a few months before he had passed away. My cat Angel was a long haired cat with black and brown fur. I had my cat Angel for 14 years. I have wonderful memories of my Angel and she is really missed.
